Redondo Sunset Snack Shack Volunteer Information

We appreciate your time and effort in making our program a success. Please review the following important information regarding volunteer shifts before signing up.

Snack Bar Volunteer Rules

• • No Children Allowed in the Snack Bar: For safety and liability reasons, children are not permitted in the snack bar at any time. If you arrive with a child, you will be asked to leave, and your deposit check will be cashed.
  • Age Requirement: Volunteers must be 18 years or older to work in the snack bar or be on the approved High School workers list.

Shift Policies

• Shift Lock Policy: Shifts will be locked 48 hours before they begin, and cancellations will not be allowed.
• Emergency Replacements: If an emergency arises, you must contact one of our trained high school workers from the approved list to replace you.
• Hiring a Replacement:

• • You must hire from the approved list – personal high school students cannot be used.

  • High school workers cannot work grill shifts.
  • Redondo Sunset is not responsible for managing payment or scheduling with high school workers.
  • Please be mindful of their school hours, sports, and extracurricular commitments.

Weather-Related Cancellations

• • If your shift is canceled due to rain before you start, you will need to reschedule.
  • If your shift is canceled while you are actively working, it will be considered complete, and your deposit check will be returned.

Check-In & Sign-Out Process

• • Every volunteer must sign in and out inside the snack bar.
  • If you fail to sign in/out, your shift may not be marked as completed.
  • Once you sign out, your deposit check will be returned to you.

Buyout & Hiring Options

• • A buyout option is available at $250 per child.
  • Parents may also hire an approved worker from the Sign-Up Genius list for $80 per shift.
  • The buyout option closes at the end of evaluations and will not be available again until the next Spring season.

Volunteer Snack Shack Check Submission

• • Volunteer deposit checks must be turned in at evaluations.
  • If you miss evaluations, it is your responsibility to turn in your check directly to the snack bar coordinator at a time that works for them.
  • If a check is not received, your child’s jersey will be held until checks are submitted.
  • 1 kid = 2 volunteer shifts (2 – $200 volunteer deposit checks)
    2 kids = 3 volunteer shifts (3 – $200 volunteer deposit checks)
    3 kids = 4 volunteer shifts (4 – $200 volunteer deposit checks)
    4 kids = 5 volunteer shifts (5 – $200 volunteer deposit checks)
    5 kids = 6 volunteer shifts: (6 – $200 volunteer deposit checks)
  • Checks will be either returned to you or securely destroyed at the end of your shift. They will only be cashed if you do not fulfill your scheduled shifts.
